Your chance to input to widening access to HE
CDI Chief Executive David Morgan is a member of the Widening Access to Higher Education Task and Finish Group that has been established by DfE to narrow the HE participation gap, focusing on those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, including those with experience of the care system and young carers.
It is fantastic that career development has been recognised as one of the levers to help address this and, after providing evidence to the Group, work is now moving to exploring potential solutions to close the gap.
David is am working on the career development solutions with John Yarham (Chief Executive of the Careers & Enterprise Company), and Laura Hawksworth (Associate Director Policy & Impact at the Careers & Enterprise Company) and the three of them are hosting a webinar on Thursday 6th August from midday to 1pm to get feedback and ideas from across the profession.
Potential solutions range from activity in primary through to adulthood, so they are interested in hearing from CDPs working across all relevant contexts,. They will share a brief overview of the work to date and present a number of potential solutions for discussion. There will also be time for attendees to raise and explore other possible solutions to be considered.
Please do join and share your views to champion the best career development solutions for this work. The webinar is free to CDI members and non-members.
