  • I agree in the event the Institute is wound up, I will contribute a sum not exceeding one pound sterling.
  • I support the aims of the CDI, principles of CPD, and I practice within the CDI Code of Ethics.
  • Data provided through membership accounts, unless specifically requested, will be retained by the CDI for the period of time as disclosed in our GDPR/Data Retention policy.

Membership Benefits

  • Physical magazines, certificates, pin-badges, or any other items are only distributed to UK postal addresses.
  • Access to resources in the CDI Resource Library or Research Directories are limited based on the accuracy, timeframe, and availability of those resources, and may be removed without notice if no longer deemed valid.

  • All memberships are automatically issued a renewal notice by email, 30 days in advance of their membership renewal date.
  • Accounts unpaid by their renewal date will have member access and services suspended until payment is received and processed.

Student Memberships

  • Student Membership is only available whilst completing a qualification permitting entry to the UK Register of Career Development Professionals, the Higher Apprenticeship: Career Development Professional, the Scottish Modern and Technical Apprenticeship: Career Development or the Level 4 Diploma in Career Information and Advice.
  • Student Membership applicants must provide evidence they are enrolled on a relevant course, their start date, and their expected completion date, before their application will be considered.

Affiliate Memberships

  • Affiliate Memberships are held in the organisation’s name and grant one Affiliate Nominee access on that organisation’s behalf.
  • The Affiliate Nominee can be updated to accommodate changes in staff or circumstance, but is limited to two updates per 12-month period.
  • Affiliate Member profile pages are optional and subject to request. No profiles will be created without that prior request, although an organisation’s name may be listed with no accompanying data.

Membership Logos

  • A member logo, relevant to the membership type and term, will only be provided for accounts that are paid-up and current.
  • Member logos are permitted for use on appropriate websites and social media profiles, only whilst the membership remains current and the logo remains in date.

The UK Register of Career Development Professionals

Registration and Disqualification

  • Members must provide valid proof of a relevant qualification at request.
  • The CDI reserves the right to amend the membership type if proof is not provided.

Professional Profile

  • Members must complete the required form to indicate their preferences for their website profile and listing. Profiles will not be published prior to completion of this form.
  • A professional's profile is their personal responsibility to keep updated.
  • Professionals choosing to publish their contact details as part of their profile do so under the assumption that this is publicly accessible information and may be contacted by the public. In cases where an individual has reason to keep their location and other details restricted (e.g, privacy concerns, domestic abuse, etc) we can limit on request the information shared to Google and on the website. All requests must be made to [email protected].
  • Members must only display current and dated versions of promotional materials, including RCDP/RCL logos, banner, and LinkedIn frames.
  • We currently host the Registered Career Development Professional and Registered Careers Leader Directories, but changes to these directories will be made based on the evolving needs of the Professional Register. These changes include but aren’t limited to; removal of the directories, merger with the Professional Register, change of location within the CDI website, etc. The CDI will inform members of any such changes prior to those changes being made.

Terms of use for Register logos

This section applies to both Registered Career Development Professionals and Registered Careers Leader members.

  •  A Registered Professional logo, relevant to the Register type of the user (RCDP or RCL), will be provided to the user once their Register status has been verified, paid for and confirmed.
  • Members and organisations are permitted to use current and dated RCDP/RCL logos on their websites and social media, with their name underneath the logo, for the duration that their registration is current.
  • Use of the RCDP/RCL logos by individuals or organisations where registration has expired, or where previously registered individuals have left an organisation, is not permitted. In such situations, the relevant individual/organisation should remove the logos from their website, social media and promotional materials.
  • If an individual/organisation who has previously allowed their registration to lapse rejoins the Register at a future date, they should use the newly current dated versions of those logos (with their name underneath).

CPD Requirements

  • Registered Professional members must complete 25 hours of CPD within their 12-month membership period.
  • The CPD year runs from the membership renewal date for the following 12 months.
  • If there are circumstances preventing completion of 25 hours CPD, members must advise the CDI as soon as practicable. Arrangements are made on a case-by-case basis.

The Professional Register and Find a Professional service

  • The Professional Register and Find a Professional service is for use by those seeking a qualified career development practitioner. Permission has not been granted for these email addresses or any other contact details to be used for advertising or other communication about third party services. Misuse of data on public profiles is a breach of GDPR regulation and the Data Protection Act, and we take every measure to safeguard our user's data and may pursue legal action against those who misuse it.

Finance

Payments

  • Members are responsible for making or arranging payment of their own invoices.
  • For any Members with an organisation or employer who pays their membership, it is the responsibility of the Member to submit this invoice to their organisation and to chase payment.
  • All payments must be made within 30 days of the invoice date, or any attached memberships or services may be invalidated, closed, or rejected.
  • The CDI uses several services to process payments, including;
  1. PayPal
  2. Stripe
  3. Worldpay
  4. GoCardless

These payment processors may collect information regarding your payment or to set up an account – the information submitted here is the responsibility of the payee and the organisation processing the payment, not of the CDI, and any issues with this process should be taken up with that organisation, with the support of the CDI in certain circumstances.

Direct Debits

  • Direct debits are only available for membership payments.
  • Direct Debit (DD) plans are not monthly memberships.
  • If a DD is cancelled, the member will be invoiced for the outstanding balance.
  • Rejoining will require payment of any remaining balance and/or a rejoining fee.
  • The CDI reserves the right to cancel a DD plan if two or more payments fail; an invoice for the outstanding balance will then be issued.
  • DD payments will appear on your account as (GCL) GoCardless, our Direct Debit platform.
  • When a payment plan or one-off payment is first set up, renewed, or processed, you will receive an email notification for each transaction.
  • If you receive an email stating that your subscription has ended, finished, or been cancelled, this refers only to your payment schedule (Direct Debit) — not to your membership with the CDI.

CDI Academy

Course Fees and Payments

  • All course fees are payable before the start date unless a payment plan has been agreed in writing.
  • Any agreed payment plan does not constitute a rolling or monthly membership.
  • Late or missed payments may be subject to further action taken by the CDI, including but not limited to; suspension of access to learning materials until balance is cleared, suspension of course activity, closure of membership.

Course Information

  • It is the responsibility of the delegate to inform the CDI of allergies, dietary requirements, or additional support needs that may be required. This information will be communicated with the venue/host. While the CDI will make reasonable efforts to support any additional needs, we cannot guarantee the extent of changes made by the venue/host.

  • Withdrawals more than 14 days before the start date may receive a partial refund minus an admin fee; withdrawals within 14 days, outside of exceptional circumstances, are non-refundable.
  • One deferral is allowed per learner within 12 months, subject to space and approval.
  • If withdrawing from a course before the start date, once the invoice has been issued and paid, the administration fee is non-refundable.

Substitutions

  • Organisations may request to substitute a delegate before the course start date, provided eligibility criteria are met and the CDI is notified in writing.

Non-Attendance / Incomplete Programmes

  • Non-attendance does not qualify for a refund.
  • Where courses are part-funded (e.g., CEC programmes), learners who fail to complete may be invoiced for the full cost.

CPD Events and Conferences

Booking and Payment

  • All event places must be booked in advance through the CDI Events Team booking system or as otherwise stated. Discounts for members are included in the price structure for each event.
  • In special cases we can arrange for an invoice for some event places, but the place is not confirmed until the invoice has been paid. If the invoice remains unpaid 24 hours before the event then your place may not be guaranteed
  • Full payment is required at the time of booking (unless otherwise agreed in writing).
  • Bookings are confirmed only when payment has been received, and a confirmation email with a receipt has been issued.

Cancellations and Refunds

  • Cancellations more than 14 days before the event may request a full refund or transfer your booking to another event (subject to availability)
  • Cancellations between 7 and 14 days before the event may be granted a refund of 50% of the booking fee and no more.
  • Cancellations less than 7 days before the event or non-attendance cannot be granted a refund.
  • When requesting a refund, you will be contacted by the CDI Finance Team to arrange the refund within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Non-attendance, outside of exceptional circumstances, does not qualify for a refund.

Event Changes or Cancellation by CDI

  • The CDI Events Team reserves the right to alter the programme, date, venue, or speaker(s) if necessary.
  • If you are unable to attend due to exceptional circumstances, please contact the CDI Events team as soon as possible. In such circumstances, any refund is at the discretion of the CDI.
  • If the event is cancelled by CDI, where possible the CDI will make alternate arrangements for a rerun of the event. If no alternate arrangements are appropriate or possible, all booking fees will be refunded in full. CDI will not be liable for any additional costs such as travel or accommodation.
  • Substitutions are allowed at any time at no extra cost (provided eligibility criteria are met), provided you notify us before the event.

Liability

  • CDI accepts no liability for any loss, damage, or injury arising from attendance at an event, except where required by law.
  • Attendees are responsible for their own personal property and safety during the event.

Commercial Services

Availability of Services

  • All commercial services and booking dates are subject to CDI availability and are offered at the discretion of the CDI Commercial Team.
  • The CDI reserves the right to decline or reschedule a booking request where availability is limited or where operational requirements apply.
  • The CDI reserves the right to decline any booking that it deems does not meet the needs of members or does not align with the values of the CDI.

Booking Process

  • A booking is not confirmed until the CDI has received a completed and signed Booking Form.
  • Upon receipt of the signed Booking Form, the CDI will raise an invoice for the agreed services.
  • Until a signed Booking Form has been returned, no dates will be held, and any provisional dates may be offered to other customers without notice.
  • By submitting a Booking Form, the customer confirms acceptance of these Terms & Conditions in full.

Payment Terms

  • Full payment of the invoice is required prior to the delivery of any commercial service, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in writing by the CDI Commercial Team.
  • If payment is not received by the specified deadline, the service will not proceed on the pre-agreed date.
  • Where a booking cannot proceed due to non-payment, the CDI will wait until the outstanding balance has been paid before offering a new date. A replacement date will only be arranged once payment has been secured.
  • Failure to make payment may result in the originally reserved booking slot being reallocated to another customer.

Copy Requirements & Deadlines

  • Once the Booking Form has been received and the invoice has been issued, the CDI will provide the customer in writing with a deadline for the copy, materials, or information required to deliver the service.
  • This deadline may be discussed and amended where appropriate; however, once a final deadline has been agreed in writing, the customer must provide the required copy by the specified date.
  • Failure to supply the required copy by the agreed deadline may result in delays or the CDI being unable to deliver the service effectively.
  • Where deadlines are missed, the CDI reserves the right to rearrange the service date, subject to availability, or postpone the service until all required materials have been received.

Changes to Booking Dates

  • If you need to change the date of your booking, you must provide a minimum of 14 days’ notice in writing to the CDI Commercial Team.
  • Date changes are subject to CDI availability and cannot be guaranteed.
  • Where appropriate, the CDI may agree to transfer your booking to an alternative commercial service, subject to availability and any price differences.

Cancellations

  • If you wish to cancel your original booking, you may request an alternative date or transfer your booking to another commercial service.
  • All cancellation and transfer requests must be made in writing.
