UK Government helping more women to enter tech sector
The UK Government has launched initiatives to help more girls and women participate in the tech sector.
The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology has launched a package of initiatives to offer women more opportunities to enter the tech sectors.
Interventions start from secondary education, with 12- and 13-year-old girls to be given opportunities to experience what working in tech is like through a new UK-wide tech competition for girls. 300 tech roles will be supported through new programmes, including a pilot jobs scheme with paid work placements for women to return to tech jobs after a career break.
The Women in Tech Taskforce is also running a call for evidence to support the work into the future.
