Why do people drop out of apprenticeships?
NFER have released their latest research that looks at the reasons for apprenticeship withdrawals. The ‘Securing success from start to finish: Investigating factors associated with apprenticeship withdrawal’ report, funded by the Gatsby Foundation, identifies key factors and looks at policy solutions.
Kery findings from the research include that apprentices from disadvantaged backgrounds are more likely to drop out, and having lower prior qualification attainment is associated with higher levels of withdrawal.
Apprenticeships with more experienced training providers and employers, as well as larger employers, are less likely to see withdrawals.
