Parliamentarians launch inquiry into adult education

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Further Education and Lifelong Learning has launched an inquiry into adult education, with a series of oral evidence sessions and an online call for evidence.

Supported by the Association of Colleges as Secretariat for the APPG, the inquiry is seeking evidence from providers, think tanks, professionals and learners over spring and summer 2026 with the aim of presenting recommendations on improving adult learning to the government in autumn 2026.

Adult learning ahs suffered underinvestment from government and employers leaving many people unable to access education and learning to progress in their careers.

The inquiry is holding a series of oral evidence sessions, covering workforce needs, social mobility, wellbeing, policy and future funding and insights from across the UK and internationally.

An online call for evidence has also launched, closing on 13th April.
