Welsh Government highlights progress in Welsh language digital and AI tools

The Welsh Government has just released its annual summary of technology and AI activity, with a strong emphasis on the development of Welsh‑language digital tools across public services. The update highlights progress in areas such as automated translation, speech‑to‑text technology and bilingual digital interfaces, all of which contribute to improving access to information for learners, jobseekers and citizens.

For careers practitioners, the report is relevant to ongoing work to ensure that CEIAG resources, labour‑market information and public‑sector guidance are accessible in both Welsh and English. The expansion of Welsh‑language digital capability supports more inclusive service delivery and aligns with national commitments to widen Welsh‑medium pathways in education, training and employment.

The summary also reflects wider workforce trends, noting the growing demand for digital, data and language‑technology skills across public services. As AI tools become more embedded in everyday systems, the report highlights the importance of building capability among staff and ensuring that organisations have the skills needed to use emerging technologies responsibly and effectively.

The publication contributes to the Welsh Government’s digital transformation agenda and supports the goals of Cymraeg 2050, demonstrating how technology and AI are being used to strengthen bilingual provision and enhance access to services that underpin learning, skills and career development.
