Report on workforce planning for the clean energy sector
The House of Commons Energy Security and Net Zero Committee has published its report into workforce planning to meet the demand of the clean energy sector. The Committee reviewed the Government’s workforce planning for cleaner energy by 2030, retrofitting buildings and greener heating by 2050.
The report reflects that there is demand in the sector for skilled labour but barriers remain to prevent existing energy workers to transition successfully. They also highlight that careers in clean energy and retrofit need to be much better promoted – including through careers guidance and clear career pathways – especially to under-represented groups.
The report does note that the Clean Energy Jobs Plan was published in October, after the committee had finished taking evidence.
