Mid Wales partners strengthen digital skills support across the region
The findings are shaping the emerging Mid Wales Digital Skills Strategy and informing investment through the Mid Wales Growth Deal Digital Programme. Employers highlighted growing interest in AI tools, with 73% saying AI awareness is important, though many organisations are still at an early stage of adoption and seeking practical guidance.
Local businesses and training providers are playing a key role. Pugh Computers noted that organisations increasingly want packaged support to help them understand digital tools and embed them securely in day‑to‑day work. SudoCyber emphasised that digital skills now reach far beyond traditional IT roles, touching areas such as law, HR, policing, psychology and project management.
Local authorities are also working to improve infrastructure and access. Powys County Council highlighted innovative approaches such as using bin lorries to map connectivity gaps, while Ceredigion County Council stressed the need to consider infrastructure, skills and opportunity together to create a more level playing field.
For practitioners, the initiative provides clearer visibility of training options and highlights the breadth of digital‑skills needs emerging across Mid Wales.
