L&WI / NFER webinar on reskilling workers in a changing economy – 24th Feb
L&WI and NFER are hosting a webinar titled ‘Turning Risk Into Opportunity: Reskilling workers in a changing economy’ on 24th February from 1pm to 2pm.
This free webinar explores how the adult skills system can be reinvigorated to better meet the needs of people in at-risk occupations, with three million UK jobs at risk of disappearing by 2035, largely due to AI and automation. While the overall labour market is expected to grow, this will be mainly in professional and associate professional occupations, whereas most low-skilled occupations will decline at an faster rate.
Workers in declining occupations need to be supported by the skills system to upskill, reskill and adapt to these changes, but investment and participation in lifelong learning have declined. The webinar includes research from NFER’s The Skills Imperative 2035 programme and speakers will include:
