Government announces £725m package for young apprenticeships
£140m will be invested in a pilot scheme with regional Mayors to connect NEET young people with local employers, as well as to fully fund apprenticeship places in small- to medium-sized businesses.
New foundational apprenticeships will be launched in sectors including hospitality and retail, as well as the introduction from April 2026 of short courses for greater flexibility.
The investment is intended to deliver 50,000 new apprenticeship places over the next three years.
