Young people to regain Erasmus+ access from 2027
The UK Government and the EU have reached agreement on rejoining the Erasmus+ scheme, enabling young people, students and apprentices in the UK to be able to study and work across Europe.
The announcement said the agreement supports their drive to expand young people’s opportunities, citing that young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who study abroad have better long-term career prospects.
Skills Minster Jacqui Smith said, “Generations of people have benefitted from the opportunities working and studying abroad offers, and I’m so pleased that today’s students, apprentices, educators and young people can experience all Europe has to offer.”
The British Council will become the National Agency for Erasmus+ in the UK, supporting young people to make the most of the opportunities. Young people, educators and organisations can register their interest in the scheme at www.britishcouncil.org/erasmusplus ahead of the first round of funding in 2027.
