What works in career exploration – US study
This review by Project Evident of the career exploration methods that are growing in US middle and high school practice reviewed hundreds of studies across different areas of development for young people. It aims to identify what constitutes high-quality career exploration and how different approaches impact students.
While the evidence was found to be ‘promising but uneven’, the strongest evidence was found to be for ‘intensive, multi-component programmes’ such as those in career and technical education-focused schools, career academies and early college high schools. These demonstrated higher completion, next stage participation and in some cases earnings.
