Welsh schools recognised for careers education excellence

Education providers from across Wales were recognised at the Careers Wales Quality Award ceremony in October, celebrating their commitment to delivering high-quality Careers and Work-Related Experiences (CWRE). The awards recognise settings that have successfully embedded careers learning within everyday teaching and learning while developing strong links with employers, further and higher education providers, and wider partners.

The award framework encourages a whole-school approach to career development. Participating schools demonstrate how learners are supported to explore opportunities, understand the changing world of work and develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for future learning and employment.

The awards also highlight the growing importance of careers education within the Curriculum for Wales. Schools are increasingly using labour market information, employer engagement and curriculum-linked activities to help learners understand how their learning connects to future opportunities and aspirations.

The awards showcase examples of effective practice and reinforce the value of collaboration between schools, employers and careers services. They also demonstrate a continuing commitment across Wales to helping young people make informed decisions about future learning, training and career pathways.
