Welsh Government sets out a strategic direction for vocational education
The Welsh Government has set out a strategic direction for vocational education and training (VET) in Wales, jointly backed by the departments for Further and Higher Education, Education, Economy, Energy and Planning and Culture, Skills and Social Partnership.
The report sets out the interconnected national priorities for VET and a shared strategic direction to inform future policy.
The priorities are; growing the economy, improved visibility, participation and progression, strong partnerships, and supporting educators and training providers. These underpin the Economic Mission as well as the four purposes of education in Wales.
Careers is well referenced in the strategic direction, with the work of Careers Wales outlined and the role of Careers and Work Related Experiences as a cross-cutting theme in the curriculum.
