UK jobs survey shows decline in jobs slowing

The KPMG/REC UK Report on Jobs Survey for February shows a slowing in the decline in permanent and temporary jobs, suggesting the employment market is close to stabilising.

Appointments of permanent staff fell at the slowest rate for nearly three years, while temporary staff roles fell only slightly. While this shows the employment market is still shrinking, the slowing rate of contraction suggests a stable level is close.

The decline in vacancies is also translating to easing pay pressure, with permanent and temporary staff pay growing at a slower rate as there is less pressure to attract staff as candidate numbers rise.
