Quality in Careers Standard schools achieve higher Gatsby Benchmark scores
The Quality in Careers Consortium has published details of analysis of Compass scores by the Careers & Enterprise Company, which shows holders of the Quality in Careers Standard achieve higher average Gatsby Benchmark schools than the whole cohort of schools.
The analysis of 578 schools and colleges that hold the Standard and provided Compass data showed an average achievement of 6.6 Gatsby Benchmarks in 2024-25 compared to 6.0 across all schools and colleges. The gap narrowed slightly as those with the Standard increased by 0.1 Benchmarks while the whole school and college population grew by 0.2.
The Statutory Guidance strongly recommends that schools work towards the Quality in Careers Standard and the results show that there is a link with higher Benchmark attainment.
