Pupils in England to receive GCSE results via mobile phone app

From this summer, pupils in England will be able to receive their GCSE results via an ‘Education record’ mobile app. This reflects the approach already in place in Scotland and builds on pilots held with 95,000 pupils in Manchester and the West Midlands last summer.

The app will show GCSE results which can then be used when applying for further study or work. The intention is to improve information sharing and simplify enrolment to college, apprenticeships and employment. The app will also contain information for schools and colleges on whether the pupil is on financial support or has an EHCP in place.

GCSE results will be available from 11am on results day and pupils will be encouraged to still go into school to receive support from careers advisers and other school staff.

Schools can sign up to learn more and encourage their pupils to use the app. More information can be found on the Government's Education Record page.
