Parents driven out of jobs by lack of flexible working
A TUC report finds that parents are being forced to leave jobs due to a lack of flexible working availability.
The new polling by Opinium for the TUC found that 33% of parents of under-7s surveyed said they had left a job because of a lack of flexible working, with 30% saying that a request for flexible working had been denied by their employer.
In terms of opportunity, over three-quarters of these parents were more likely to apply for a job that offered flexible working, and just over half were unlikely to apply for ta job that didn’t state whether it included flexible working options.
Given the change in employment law in April, only 18% were unaware that they had the right to request flexible working.
