NTFW conference on Senedd election and new apprenticeship programme

The National Training Federation for Wales (NTFW) has announced that its annual conference in March will focus on two major developments shaping the future of work‑based learning in Wales: the May 2026 Senedd election and the creation of a new Apprenticeship Programme for Wales, due to launch in August 2027.

Held at Cardiff City Stadium, the conference—titled Shaping Skills for a New Era—will bring together work‑based learning providers, employers, awarding bodies and sector leaders. NTFW strategic director Lisa Mytton emphasised the importance of collaboration in designing an apprenticeship system that meets industry needs, supports learners from all backgrounds and strengthens the Welsh workforce.

Speakers will include representatives from Medr, the tertiary education regulator for Wales, Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, Cavendish Cymru, Agored Cymru and City & Guilds. Delegates will also hear early insights into how the Senedd election may influence future skills policy and funding priorities.

The conference aims to provide a platform for shaping the next phase of apprenticeships in Wales and ensuring the sector is prepared for the policy changes ahead.
