Graduate and healthcare jobs decline while warehousing and cleaning grow
The Guardian reports that analysis from the recruitment data provider Adzuna shows the jobs market is experiencing a modest decline but that the impact is variable across sectors.
Graduates have been hit by hiring freezes at many employers leading to more intense competition for jobs for younger workers.
Healthcare and teaching are also areas which are seeing stronger declines in vacancies, while openings for warehouse workers and cleaners have risen sharply. Overall the market is seen as ‘cooling, not collapsing’, and the positive news for those in work is that salary growth remains above inflation, possibly driven by the increase in the minimum wage.
