Gatsby Benchmark analysis shows ongoing improvement
The Careers & Enterprise Company has published analysis that shows the ‘Gatsby Benchmarks have become the backbone of careers education in England’. The results are for the 2024-25 academic year, the last year before the revised benchmarks are introduced from the updated Statutory Guidance.
The average Benchmarks achieved is now six, with Benchmark 3 and Benchmark 7 seeing the highest gains from the previous year. In contrast, Benchmark 8 dipped in the past year and work experience (Benchmark 6) remains challenging to provide.
The analysis goes on to outline some practical approaches for schools and colleges to further improve their careers education. These include ensuring equity for all learners; increasing opportunity awareness, self-awareness and inspiration; exploring roles and responsibilities and growth sectors; and applying knowledge in the workplace.
