Delivering Scotland’s Career Service – SDS Annual Report
Skills Development Scotland has published their 2024-25 Annual Report ‘Delivering Scotland’s Career Service’.
The report is shaped by the Scottish Government’s Career Strategy, aligned with the Programme for Government and the SDS 2027 strategic Plan. Three key areas are cited where SDS is helping; tackling poverty, enabling Scotland’s transition to net zero, and supporting inclusive economic growth.
The report includes key statistics such as 75% of SDS’s resource going on supporting school-age clients, with one careers adviser for every 700 pupils.
The report also sets out SDS’s ambition for the careers service in 2026, ‘to deliver a service that is inclusive, future-focused, and responsive to the needs of individuals, communities and the economy.’ Planned improvements include more personalised and flexible support, proactive engagement for those most in need, improved efficiency and stronger partnerships.
