Careers Wales celebrates its commitment to the Welsh language
Careers Wales has marked its ongoing commitment to Cymraeg (the Welsh language), celebrating recent achievements in expanding and improving bilingual services across its national careers offer. The organisation emphasises that providing high-quality support in both Welsh and English is central to ensuring that learners, jobseekers and employers can access impartial guidance in the language of their choice.
The update highlights the organisation’s work to embed Cymraeg across digital resources, face-to-face guidance, employer engagement and outreach activity. Careers Wales notes that increasing the visibility and availability of Welsh‑medium services supports wider national ambitions to grow the number of Welsh speakers and strengthen the role of the language in workplaces and communities.
Staff development is a key focus, with investment in training and opportunities for employees to build confidence and capability in using Welsh professionally. Careers Wales reports that this has helped expand the number of advisers and practitioners able to deliver guidance bilingually, supporting more inclusive and accessible services for young people and adults.
The organisation also highlights its contribution to the Welsh Government’s Cymraeg 2050 strategy, recognising that careers information, advice and guidance plays an important role in promoting Welsh-medium pathways, supporting bilingual workplaces and encouraging young people to use and develop their language skills throughout their careers.
