AoC calls for national employer engagement strategy

The Association of Colleges published its Employer Engagement Survey report, providing a comprehensive summary of how England’s FE colleges engage with employers.

Nearly half of all colleges took part in the survey, which found that 90% had a formal engagement strategy and 84% had online information dedicated to employers. They engage with many employers across different sectors and almost all expect to increase the number of employers they engage with.

However, employer engagement also has its challenges, especially for placements for T levels, apprenticeships and supported internships. Employers in the government’s priority strategy sectors are also challenging to engage.

The report recommends improving coordination at national and local levels, increasing employer incentives and establishing long-term funding for employer engagement.
