CPD topic: Employment and work experience for autistic clients
According to government data, only three out of 10 autistic people of working age are in any kind of employment yet three out of four would like to work. After briefly reviewing employment data and occupational trends, this webinar will focus on investigative research techniques: how to use freely available information resources to uncover and piece together training and employment opportunities for neurodivergent individuals and disabled people. There will be something for everyone – from those seeking supported internships to apprentices and graduates.
Learning Outcomes
• Describe the employment gap for autistic and neurodivergent individuals using key statistics
• Describe how trends in the occupational structure of the UK labour market (for example the impact of technology and requirements of newly created jobs) may impact neurodivergent individuals in different ways
• Evaluate at least one research strategy for its suitability in supporting job and career exploration for a specific neurodivergent or disabled client group
Target audience
This course is suitable for careers leaders and career development practitioners working with a range of clients.
