This webinar explores best practice for delivering career guidance in non-traditional settings, including home visits, schools, workplaces, and online environments. It will focus on safeguarding, risk assessment, professional boundaries and ethical practice when working one-to-one with children, young people and adults. Using real-life scenarios, participants will examine how to identify potential risks, plan safely, manage challenging or uncertain situations, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism in both in-person and virtual settings.

The session is relevant for careers advisers, pastoral staff, outreach workers, mentors, and any professionals who provide guidance outside of standard office environments. By the end of the session, participants will understand how to carry out effective risk assessments, apply clear 'do’s and don’ts' before, during, and after home visits, respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, and adapt their practice for online delivery where privacy, consent, and ethical conduct remain essential. The session will equip attendees with practical tools and confidence to deliver guidance safely while protecting both themselves and those they support.

This session supports the following competency areas:

• Career Development Practice

• Professional Practice, Values, and Ethics
