Let’s talk about speech and language therapy: An introduction to the profession, routes into practice and opportunities

Biographies

Rosie Robertson, SLT Clinical Lead, University Hospital Ayr
Rosie is a Clinical Lead SLT working in an acute NHS hospital setting in Ayrshire. She mainly works with adults who have eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) due to a wide range of causes. In addition to her NHS job, she also work part-time at Strathclyde University doing tutoring and teaching on the Clinical & Professional Capabilities section of the SLT degree course. Rosie trained as an SLT as a mature student via the Master's route, having previously worked in linguistics research and in the 3rd sector.

Rachel Green, SLT, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust
Rosie qualified as an SLT in July 2024 and have been working in Greater Manchester ever since. She works with children and young people in schools including children with autism, children who stammer, children with speech sound difficulties and those with language difficulties. Her favourite thing about the job is creating resources and plans which really tailor to the child’s needs and interests. She loves to have students with her and to speak to people with a potential interest in becoming an SLT.
