With the employment landscape evolving rapidly, rising financial pressures across the education sector, and the UK government prioritizing getting people into work and educating the workforce of the future, demand for careers guidance is growing. In parallel, cost-effective, scalable artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities are advancing rapidly, and providers are hungry for ideas on how it can be used to support this growing demand. So, if the future of careers guidance lies in thoughtful human-AI collaboration, how can we as human career coaches work to establish, develop, and articulate our value so that it is recognized in a world with AI-powered solutions?
Biography
Robin Stevens is a Careers Consultant at King’s College London and a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Huddersfield, where he is completing a PhD on the value of integrating existentialism into careers guidance. An AGCAS Trainer and member of the AGCAS Research and Knowledge Committee, he has extensive experience across both the UK higher and secondary education sectors, including at senior leadership level. In 2025, he received the AGCAS Research Poster People’s Choice Award and was shortlisted for the AGCAS Employability Professional of the Year Award. He is also an author of both fiction and non-fiction, with publications including three novels, academic articles, and a range of short stories.
