AI for Career Development Practitioners

This moodle course from the Career Development Institute offers a practical introduction to the potential use of AI by career practitioners. By the end of six weeks, you'll walk away with well-rounded perspectives, tangible skills, and curated resources to evaluate, adopt and apply AI solutions in service of empowering career journeys. This course is designed for active participation and peer learning. We encourage you to engage with the materials, share your perspectives in discussions, and have fun experimenting with AI!

Course description:

A 6-week blended online programme for Career practitioners, featuring self-study content, live webinars and a group project through which you'll have the opportunity to:

- Develop foundational knowledge of AI concepts through engaging self-paced online modules.

- See AI applications come to life for career guidance in live interactive webinars.

- Get hands-on with experimenting with AI career tools through optional group projects.

- Connect with fellow practitioners to discuss implications and generate ideas.

- Reflect on your own development needs to integrate AI into your unique practice.

Tutor Bios:

Marianne Wilson is studying towards a PhD, sponsored by Skills Development Scotland and the Scottish Graduate School of Social Science. Her PhD project explores human-centered approaches for the responsible design and evaluation of career information chatbots. She has a long-standing interest in human factors and social impacts of information technology spanning a range of academic disciplines, including an MA(hons) in English Literature & History, MSc in Business Information Technology and MSc by Research in Science & Technology Studies. She also has experience in enterprise data governance in a multi-national organisation.

Michael Larbalestier is a digital learning and innovation specialist with extensive experience in career development. As a NICEC Fellow, active CIPD member, and CDI Tutor and Project Associate, he trains careers practitioners and champions their digital confidence, leveraging technology to empower individuals and organisations to thrive in an ever-changing digital landscape.

A CDI CPD certificate of participation will be issued at the end of this course for those who complete the self-study material.
