Drawing on real-world experience, the session will share practical strategies and reflections on one career development professional's experience om adopting a trauma-informed approach to practice.
Attendees will gain insight into how trauma can impact client engagement in careers activities, particularly when working with young people, but the content could easily be adapted to work with adults. The session aims to inspire careers professionals to reflect on their own practice, and identify achievable ways to integrate trauma-informed principles into their everyday work.
Hannah West RCDP is a qualified Career Development Professional and Careers Leader, whose work delivering career guidance in secure children's hospitals and children's homes formed the basis of her winning application for 2023 UKCDA Public Sector Careers Adviser of the Year.
