About Me
WELCOME
I'm very happy to receive enquiries from anyone who is thinking about their career and thinks they might benefit from support from a registered qualified career development professional.
MY BACKGROUND
I have been practising and researching and writing about career development for thirty years and over that time I've worked with people at early and mid and late career stages who might be preparing for a new position, or establishing themselves in a role, or figuring out what's next, or looking for a change.
WHAT I DO
I offer one-to-one sessions or group workshops that can focus on your aspirations for the future, how to make the most of opportunities and the practicalities of transitioning to another role. So that means we can do blue-sky thinking and/or we can problem-solve a real-career dilemma and/or we can work on a CV or job application that showcases your talents. I draw on career scholarship and concepts to help you to find different perspectives, especially if you're stuck or not sure what to do.
MY EXPERIENCE
Over the years I have developed knowledge of careers within a range of industries and I have worked alongside training providers, corporate enterprises, public organisations, start-up companies and charities on how to plan and develop careers and how to select and retain the best people. I have a background working with post-graduates at leading London business schools, creative industries' professionals and experienced hires in a range of sectors and I have designed assessment centres and conducted selection interviewing. My clients have come from a variety of industry, consulting, financial and public and third sector roles.MY APPROACH
I have absolute respect for your time and investment. I'm focused on working towards your objectives, and to do this I will try to understand your priorities, values, motivations and skills. I can provide facilitation, support your action-planning, summarise and reflect back to you what I hear, challenge perceptions, endeavour to (re-)energise you when you're flagging, listen and encourage you to make career development steps, and, with your permission, may be able to make suggestions. I never forget that you are the lead partner in our career development relationship. And I recognise that you are equipped to find your answers; I'm simply helping you along the way.
I am fully bound by the ethical principles of the Career Development Institute including protecting client confidentiality, remaining impartial and objective. I aim towards 'Green Guidance', taking the relationship between the effects of climate change and career development into consideration.
