About Me

My own career experience has been gained from working with international companies and organisations based both in the UK and in Italy, with local SMEs, and more recently within education, and from this I have gained invaluable experience across a diverse range of sectors and roles which I can now call upon when working with young people. Over the past 11 years, I have worked in both state and independent schools and currently in an FE College. I have gained experience of mentoring and supporting students as they transition into sixth form, FE or university and I have helped devise and run PSHE activities relating to career choices and decision making. I have created and run a comprehensive CEIAG programme for students from Year 8 through to Year 13 which included the use of psychometric tools, arranging an employer speaker programme, sourcing work experience placements, running specialist area tutorials/whole group assemblies, and the creation of careers guidance literature and resources. A significant part of my current role involves one-to-one guidance meetings, supporting students making decisions as they move into or within FE, university, apprenticeships or employment, helping them reflect on their interests and strengths, researching opportunities, CV writing and preparing for interview. Through frequent research and carefully targeted CPD, I ensure that my knowledge remains current and relevant, recently focusing on the rapid changes to the labour market caused by disruptive technologies and the increasing focus on skill sets and patterns in addition to academic qualifications. I completed the Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development qualification and as a member of the CDI, will always abide by their Code of Ethics.
