About Me
I am the Careers Leader at Huntington School, where I lead the planning and development of the school’s careers curriculum in line with national standards such as Ofsted and the Gatsby Benchmarks (wee website in links). My role involves providing impartial careers advice to students as they prepare for their Post-16 and Post-18 pathways, as well as building strong links between the school and the wider community through major careers events and employer engagement. As a qualified teacher, I deliver a broad range of subjects including English, ICT, PE, and vocational courses, often working with vulnerable students. This requires a high level of behaviour management, differentiated planning, and a nurturing approach to ensure every learner can succeed.
I recently collaborated with senior leadership to guide the school through the rigorous Quality in Careers Standard accreditation, evidencing our commitment to outstanding careers provision. Over the years, my role at Huntington has evolved to include teaching, exams administration, behaviour support, and sports coordination. As School Sports Co-ordinator, I was proud to receive the Rugby League Yorkshire Teacher of the Year award for my work promoting girls’ rugby, and I successfully organised a whole-school sponsored walk which raised £10,000.
My earlier experience includes working as a listening volunteer with Samaritans, supporting individuals in emotional distress, and managing fitness programmes as an instructor at DW Sports Fitness. I also held a managerial role at Pizza Hut, where I was responsible for staff training, shift management, and achieving performance targets.
With a background spanning education, pastoral care, sport, and community engagement, I bring a well-rounded and compassionate approach to teaching and careers guidance, always striving to help young people realise their potential.
