About Me

International Careers Adviser | Supporting Confidence, Transition and Informed Decision-Making

I am a qualified Careers Adviser with over 20 years’ experience working across the education sector in the UK and internationally. My career has spanned roles in schools, colleges, universities, and private consultancy, giving me a comprehensive understanding of the learner journey from early education through to higher education and employment.

I specialise in supporting individuals at key transition points, helping them to make informed, confident decisions about their future pathways. Alongside my careers guidance work, I bring experience in admissions, student recruitment, and international education systems, enabling me to provide informed, impartial guidance that considers both local and global opportunities.

My approach is grounded in the belief that individuals make more effective decisions when they understand themselves and feel confident in their ability to succeed. I focus on creating a reflective and supportive space where people can explore options, develop clarity, and navigate complex or uncertain choices.

In practice, this involves going beyond presenting pathways to supporting individuals in building the confidence, motivation, and resilience required to act on their decisions. I place particular emphasis on self-efficacy, recognising the influence of language, expectations, and environment on how individuals perceive their potential.

I have increasingly focused on supporting neurodivergent young people, including the design and delivery of both digital and in-person programmes. This has deepened my understanding of inclusive practice and the importance of adapting guidance to reflect individual profiles, strengths, and support needs. This area of work also aligns with my academic interests, particularly in relation to the impact of late identification and support on young people’s confidence, engagement, and longer-term outcomes.

I am especially interested in how career development can be strengthened through alignment between the individual and their wider support system. Where appropriate, I work collaboratively with parents, educators, and other stakeholders to ensure guidance is consistent, reinforcing, and sustainable over time.

My work is underpinned by a commitment to impartiality, professionalism, and ongoing development, ensuring that the support I provide remains relevant, evidence-informed, and responsive to individual needs.
