About Me

I have worked as a secondary school teacher in Coventry for over thirty years in a wide variety of roles.  I was the Head of Sixth Form until 2017 when a career change allowed me to retrain as the school Careers Lead and gain a Level 6 qualification in Careers Guidance and Development. From 2017 I worked to roll out a careers strategy across the school that included a total rebrand of the careers offer, implementing plans to meet Gatsby benchmarks and achieving Quality in Careers Standard and Prospects Gold Award in 2020. I have experience of conducting both one to one careers guidance interviews, working with small groups and working within the CDI Code of Ethics. In addition, I am confident and experienced in delivering talks and assemblies to large groups and organising large scale careers events such as careers fairs. The success of my work resulted in the school becoming a lead school for careers within the local area hub and this involved me in the delivery of CPD and wider sharing of careers practice amongst local schools.

 

Delighted to add that in 2023 I took the school through Quality in Careers Standard assessment and gained the standard with Ixion Gold Award for the second time in six years

At the end of 2023 I took the decision to semi retire and now work freelance for Complete Careers LLP working in the Rutland and Lincolnshire areas.
