About Me

A qualified careers adviser, experienced lecturer and trainer. Currently working as a Careers Adviser with Health Education England guiding postgraduate doctors. As an HE lecturer I piloted, rewrote and validated the first foundation degrees in Tourism in the UK. These were the first higher level qualifications to have a compulsory period of work experience at their core and this is something l remain passionate about. Skilled at academic research and programme development I have led on the creation of an employability course for a large FE college while working as a Work Experience Adviser. This included evaluating the pedagogical approach and utilising blended learning, harnessing emergent digital technologies. During this period I wrote a bespoke training package in Mentoring Apprentices for professionals in the nuclear industry and delivered this for two consecutive years. My last post involved working as an Employability and Placements Adviser at Exeter University supporting students in the Humanities to secure meaningful internships and work placements. My focus was with students who work abroad and I developed a range of resources to support them. I have worked with learners of all ages through my career and have experience with neurodiverse clients and those with additional learning needs.
