Nicky Smith

About Me

I have worked in the schools, Further and Higher Education sectors for twenty-five years and am used to supporting clients from a wide range and variety of backgrounds, and across all ages. I regularly work with private clients from a wide range of backgrounds helping them make careers plans or changes and as a professional mentor with the CDI, enjoy working with others in my profession who need support and guidance.  Prior to this I worked in the media and creative industries and therefore have a particular interest and understanding of creative careers.

As a mature student I returned to education to gain my careers qualification and in the process experienced a profound insight in to my own personal and professional learning.

I believe these experiences have therefore given me the skills to enable people to realistically reflect on their own aspirations and skills and put in to action their own manageable plan to meet them and therefore:

1. Work one-to-one with clients using traditional careers counselling, development methods and mentoring skills.

2. Have extensive knowledge of planning and running careers events and writing careers materials.

3. Am happy to work directly with employers and organisations in relation to any careers related programmes, events or promotions and have done so in a wide variety of settings many times.
