About Me

Having graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2003 with a BA(hons) in Popular Music Studies I worked in banking and finance at Halifax Bank of Scotland Plc. I often performed original music in various venues across the UK and also taught guitar and bass to a large roster of students in the Leeds and Wakefield area. I returned to University in 2009 to pursue my interest in Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) and graduated in 2010 with the full Level 7 Post Grad Diploma in Careers Guidance (QCG).

My first role as a Careers Adviser was with Prospects Services Ltd delivering outreach face to face CEIAG via the National Careers Service (NCS) to adults. This took place in various settings and locations across South Yorkshire including, Job Centres, Libraries, Opportunity Centres, Training Providers and Further Education Colleges supporting and assisting clients to apply for jobs, college, University and Apprenticeships.

In 2012 I become the NCS Community Pathfinder Champion in Doncaster and the South Yorkshire region raising the awareness of the NCS within the Libraries and Opportunity Centres throughout the area. I was also media trained in order to represent the NCS on TV and Radio and was the regional representative in South Yorkshire.

I joined CareersInc Ltd in 2015 and was provided with the opportunity to work in schools delivering high-quality independent CEIAG across multiple schools in the Yorkshire region. I have always possessed a creative skillset and have been interested in graphic design since high school. CareersInc enabled me to develop this passion further where I have since created a back catalogue of careers related resources such as subject posters and banners, large wall displays and lesson materials that help promote and inspire young people about the various careers and pathways available to them throughout the region and the United Kingdom. My role as an operational manager involved managing the CareersInc service in a number of schools across West and South Yorkshire and the North East and Tees Valley.

I have also worked as the Careers Education Content Manager at U-Explore LTD responsible for delivering value for education partners as well as driving revenue and new opportunities. Researching careers education trends and  creating a strategic framework for generating engaging content with clear educational and career development outcomes. My role also involves providing support to schools, colleges and universities in getting the most out of the U-Explore products, by ensuring that they know how to use the products to support their students and meet their objectives.

Since January 2023 I launched my own career resource company called Resourceful Careers where I design resources to support advisers and teachers in the delivery of CEIAG in secondary schools. My resources also enable students to see where and what they can do with the subjects like so they have a starting point before they meet with a career adviser to discuss and explore their ideas further. I've also produced a range of easily digestible LMI based resources. Alongside this I provide face to face careers guidance for a number of independent schools across Yorkshire.
