About Me

I am a Level 6 qualified Careers Adviser and Careers Coordinator at Castleford Academy, where I lead and develop the careers programme across Years 7 to 11.

My role covers everything from careers education and employer encounters to college applications, work experience, individual careers guidance and supporting pupils with their next steps after school.

I also work with Rugby League Cares, supporting current and former professional players to explore dual careers and prepare for life alongside and beyond rugby.

Having played professional rugby league myself for over a decade, I understand how difficult it can be to think about another career when so much of your time, identity and focus has been built around one profession.

My approach is simple... start with a relaxed and honest conversation about where someone is now, what they enjoy, the skills they already have and what they might want their future to look like.

Nothing needs to be decided during the first conversation. My role is to help people understand their options, explore realistic pathways and agree practical next steps.

I support clients with career exploration, education and training routes, apprenticeships, job searching, CVs, applications, interview preparation and career transitions.

I am particularly passionate about helping people recognise skills that are not always shown through qualifications... resilience, communication, teamwork, leadership, discipline, adaptability, professionalism and the ability to perform under pressure.

These skills can be incredibly valuable to employers, but people often need support to recognise them, explain them and understand where they could lead.
