About Me
I am a L6 qualified careers professional who currently works in Essex County Council's Youth Service, seconded to Children & Families Social Care as a Targeted Youth Advisor. I have previously worked as an Employability & Skills Advisor (also with Essex County Council), a Careers Guidance Officer with Tendring Technology College (school and Sixth Form), and as a Project Worker for Catch 22 on various projects including Route To Work and Wheels To Work.
During my roles I have worked with 6-29 year olds and have experience with a variety of different client groups - physical disabilities, mental health issues, SEN, ex-offenders, drug users, homeless, LAC, ethnic minorities, low basic skills, refugees, and victims of domestic abuse and/or exploitation. I have also supported home-schoolers and those missing in education.
I have personal experience of being employed in several different sectors, being self-employed/freelance, Sixth Form, college, adult part-time learning, university, apprenticeships, and online learning, and so use this experience to inform and advise others. My work is a blend of careers guidance and youth work, focusing on clients experiencing multiple, complex barriers to EET, and I am currently studying a L7 MA in Youth Work and Community Development to further enhance my practice.
Essex Youth Service is a leading provider of Careers, information advice and guidance for young people in Essex. In line with legislation, we hold MATRIX Accreditation and staff across the team are all qualified to the QCF Level 6 Diploma in Guidance and Development.
