About Me

About me..

Hi, I am Emma and I am a registered career practitioner and careers leader. I am employed full-time as a Level 6 career development tutor/assessor and I have set up independently, mainly to keep my career guidance and advice skills up to date.

I have a passion for supporting others to achieve their full potential and pride myself in my friendly, yet professional approach to my clients, allowing a relaxed atmosphere to develop trust and for a tailored approach. I am a licenced to utilse psychometric profiling tools and use the Morrisby platform to help my customers to navigate careers and to set action points.

Training quals & experience..

With a Post Graduate award in career leadership, HE Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development, CAVA 3, ROSPA Work Place Assessor Award and PTLLS Award Level 3 as well as other lower-level qualifications and certificates, I am well equipped to guide and coach my customers in the right direction to meet their career needs and goals.

I have experience working with both adults and young people, including independent and state education settings, individuals seeking career changes, career progression as well as individuals who are seeking work.

I enjoy supporting people with choosing their career and guiding individuals on the options open to them to support the to achieve this, including educational routes and training opportunities.

What to expect from my service

I offer a PAYG service usually built up of 1-hour career appointments where I will help you to explore your career journey so far, your interests, skills and strengths. I will help you to identify and discuss any barriers for progression or change as well as to help you to identify how your 'career anchors' may align to certain types of jobs or employers.

You will find throughout your appointment that with the support you may be able to identify yourself, your own options for progress, in which case I will help you to decide on action steps to take in order to achieve your goals. Sometimes all it takes is speaking to somebody who can listen, question and challenge your thoughts and ideas and to help you to articulate/justify your career moves.

I use a mix of approaches to career appointments and vary the tools I use, tailored to you. I am usually able to adapt sessions quickly to any emerging needs and sometimes it takes a while to process conversations and ideas from the career appointment. There is no expectation for you to suddenly make your own decisions having spoken with me for an hour - I am ready to intervene and make some suggestions for you, I will gauge your responses and reactions to my suggestions, and you will be supported to reflect or to challenge my own suggestions - as a result, this usually ends up with some ideas formed. it's likely I will send you away with some research and thinking to do, using a written-up action plan which will come with a summary of our discussion and some useful signposting links - you can choose to return when you are ready.

I can also help with CV writing or Personal Statements and Interview support and will only offer this when you have built yourself a profile reflecting the characteristics and skills needed by employers or universities that you are interested in approaching.

I offer out-of-hour sessions, both remote and face-to-face, please do not hesitate to give me a call to discuss the support I can offer you.

Are you ready for career guidance?

Sometimes career appointments can result in some sensitive issues being brought up to the surface. Appointments are dealt with confidentially with some safeguarding limits, I would suggest you need to be ready to be open and honest in discussion to receive the full benefit from the service. You will also need to feel ready to respond to any action points suggested and/or to be realistic about timeframes for achieving action steps.
