Dr Denise Taylor

About Me

Denise’s career in career development spans more than 25 years. She founded Amazing People in 1998 and has worked with individuals and organisations in the UK and internationally, helping people navigate career and life transitions and make sense of what comes next.

She completed her Professional Doctorate at Birkbeck, University of London, researching how people find meaning after full-time work. She also holds a first degree in Psychology, a master’s degree in Occupational Psychology and an MBA.

Her work now focuses primarily on research and writing about later life, ageing, identity, meaning and life transitions. Increasingly, she is interested in the wider implications of longer lives: what happens to identity when work becomes less central, how people create meaning and purpose in later life, and why established ideas about retirement, midlife and ageing need to be reconsidered.

Denise is the author of books on careers and later life, including Find Work at 50+, Rethinking Retirement for Positive Ageing, Career Coaching for Mid-Life and Beyond and ThriveSpan. She also writes regularly for the national media and through her Substack, Ageing Reimagined.

In 2024, Denise received the UK Career Development Award for Research by a Career Development Professional for her doctoral research into meaning and identity after full-time work. She has also received two national career awards for her contribution to the field.

Her current work brings together psychology, career development, research and lived experience to explore how people continue to develop, contribute and create meaningful lives beyond the conventional boundaries of a working career.
