About Me

I am an FE careers advisor working in North Yorkshire in a vocational setting. I'm passionate about uplifting the aspirations and inspiring young people to explore beyond their locality and achieve great things. I love organising events linking young people and employers for them to work together in a scenario or activity that both gives experience of the workplace, as well as enriches the student experience.
Scarborough is a town that sees limited economic and social diversity due to its relatively remote location, with York, Hull and Middlesbrough being the nearest major population centres and each is a minimum of 60-90 minutes to reach by road or rail. This means that unless students are exposed to what is out there, giving them the confidence to explore careers outside our town is a real challenge. This is what drives me to make the difference in peoples lives that I do every day, to show that the world is out there for them, it's just how we go about getting them there.
