About Me
I graduated from Coventry University in 2019 with a Distinction in Career Guidance MA. I then moved to Malaysia for 3 years where I gained experience working for an international schools group in a strategic careers role implementing a new careers programme across 50 schools globally. I am currently working part time as the Head of Careers and Higher Education at an independent school in Oxford looking after their secondary, sixth form and international school. Alongside, I am providing consultancy through my own business, Future Armour, working with individuals on a one-to-one basis providing advice and guidance as well as helping schools develop their existing career programmes and provision. My passion is working with people, in a collaborative, goal oriented, motivational capacity. Feedback indicates that my strengths lie in building a strong rapport with young people. Job satisfaction for me, is working with individuals who leave our appointments with a sense of ownership over their futures and a plan! I also enjoy getting to the root of perceived challenges, barriers and misconceptions to help individuals see opportunities from a different perspective. Whilst encouraging individuals to continually grow and learn to enhance decision making and helping clients develop self-awareness through recognising strengths and achievements in and outside of the academic arena.
Prior to working in education, I worked in graduate recruitment for several blue-chip organisations, this experience compliments my careers work bringing knowledge from the commercial sector, recruitment processes and a sense of what employers are looking for.
Preparing young people and helping them deal with change is also something close to my heart, having recently relocated my family to the other side of the world and back again, I became personally interested in the effects change can have on young people, from a well-being perspective, and as a result, published a children’s book on dealing with change, aimed at expat families. After working with several expat clients, I had an article published in ‘Career Matters’ raising awareness of expat spouses as a client group, their unique barriers and situations, creating a need to look at the definition of ‘career’ from a different, perhaps less traditional perspective.
Working with schools groups such as Nord Anglia and International Schools Partnership has given me autonomy for creativity and innovation, which is, in my opinion, how career professionals can add most value, inspire and support others.
