About Me

I am proud to be Head of Careers at Dame Allan's Schools with years of experience since 2000. It is my role to inform and inspire students about their futures and to open up a world of opportunities. It is a real privilege to work with so many young people and help them on their way to fulfil their aspirations. I organise the CEIAG programme from play level to Alevel at Dame Allan's Schools- from Juniors through to Sixth Form: - CEIAG workshops with every year group - Careers Consultations with individual students / students and their parents - Trained to administer Morrisby Psychometric Assessments; and give individual Careers Consultations- Morrisby analysis and action planning - Year 12/13 drop in Careers Consultation and mock interview service - National Careers Week events and Careers Fairs - Work Experience advice and clinics - CEIAG Staff training and support - Worked with Ryan Gibson, National Facilitator of the Gatsby Benchmarks and north east pilot of Good Careers Guidance - Built, content manage and create Dame Allan's Schools HE and Careers websites, My Great Future (2 sites- for students and parents) and a Virtual Futures Fair website - Developed social media presence following training on twitter and LinkedIn - Build alumni network and invite to careers events eg Return and Inspire and Assemblies - Member of Newcastle's CEIAG Professional Practice group based at the University established 2019 - Constantly researching and enjoy webinars and careers conferences eg diverse CDI webinars- eg Supporting LGBT clients, Offering the best support to SEND students, Employability via PSHE - North East Ambition LMI Focus Task Group led by Mark Fox 2021 I was delighted to be shortlisted in the top 3 for the careers guidance national award- CDI UK Careers Educator of the Year 2017. As runner up, I was the UK top female Careers Educator. Ryan Gibson, Gatsby facilitator, rightly won. I also enjoy writing CEIAG articles for Careers Research eg for CareerMatters, newspapers as well as leading and hosting CEIAG training events - Organised and hosted Building the Future event Nov 2016 for Northern Schools CEIAG leads. Speakers- Ryan Gibson, National Facilitator Gatsby Benchmark Project, NE Local Education Partnership, Morrisby Company, Global Bridge and Futures Consultancy Organised and hosted Bridging the Gap between Curriculum and Careers event March 2017, the focus - Benchmark 4, Gatsby Benchmarks Good Careers Guidance. CEIAG leads, schools, colleges, universities and companies met to discuss career themed activities and opportunities on over 20 subject panels. North East Ambition Newcastle event July 14th 2017 - I joined the panel of teachers explaining the benefits of Gatsby Good Careers Guidance Benchmarks Westminster Employment Forum - Priorities for the new Careers Strategy- next steps for standards, funding and meeting employer needs Oct 12th 2017. I spoke at the Westminster Forum on behalf of Dame Allan' s Schools, local schools, Gatsby pilot schools, Gatsby, Careers and Enterprise Advisers; and NELEP, NE Ambition - Priorities for schools in improving careers, information, advice and guidance NE Ambitions Careers Leaders Conference October 13th 2017.
