£500 million Local Growth Fund announced for Wales
The Welsh Government has launched a new Local Growth Fund to stimulate productivity, employment, and innovation across Wales. Replacing the former EU structural funding, the fund restores devolved control over regional investment and will be shaped through local consultation.
Priorities include skills development, business growth in future-focused sectors, and investment in green infrastructure — all of which have direct implications for career pathways, labour market demand, and for careers professionals in supporting inclusive economic participation.
Local authorities and other partners will have a key role in deciding how the funding is spent and a consultation exercise will give stakeholders an opportunity to shape delivery priorities.
