Summary of careers research studies by Skills Development Scotland

Skills Development Scotland has released a series of reports exploring careers information, advice and guidance for young people, including their perspectives on their journeys through education and beyond and an evaluation of careers services they receive.

The reports include the Pupil Voice Senior Phase (S4-S^) with feedback from around 11,000 pupils and Young People’s Career Ambitions, which captures their views one year after leaving school.

A Pupil Voice (S1-S3) pilot was launched in 2025 and all this pupil research is complemented by research among parents and carers – with a survey of over 4,000 people carried out in 2024.
