Study shows 87% of graduates in work or study

Amid the headlines about graduate jobs collapsing this year, the latest HESA analysis of the 2023-24 cohort of graduates showed that 87% were in work or further study 15 months after graduating.

HESA (now part of Jisc) found that 57% were in full-time work, 25% in other employment (including combined work and study) and 5% were undertaking further studies. 7% were unemployed and 7% doing things such as travelling or caring.

This is only marginally down on the previous year’s cohort, which saw 59% in full-time employment and 6% unemployed.

75% of those working were in higher skilled jobs, especially those with a science background and average pay was £30,000 – up from £28,500 for the previous year.
