Scottish Government updates Agricultural Wages guidance

The Scottish Government has published the thirtieth edition of its Agricultural Wages guidance, providing updated information for workers and employers on pay, terms and conditions in the agricultural sector.

The guidance sets out the legally binding framework covering minimum pay rates, overtime, holidays and other employment conditions for agricultural workers in Scotland. It aims to ensure clarity and fairness across the sector while supporting both employees and employers to understand their rights and responsibilities.

The publication outlines different grades of agricultural workers, with pay levels linked to experience, qualifications and job responsibilities. It also includes details on additional entitlements such as sick pay, bereavement leave and accommodation offsets, helping to standardise conditions across rural employment.

The updated guidance reflects the Scottish Government’s continued commitment to Fair Work principles, including fair pay, security and opportunity. It also highlights the importance of agriculture as a key sector within Scotland’s economy, particularly in rural communities.

By providing a clear structure for wages and conditions, the guidance supports workforce stability and aims to make agricultural careers more attractive and sustainable in the long term.
