Reversing the decline in small business engagement in apprenticeships

As part of the Edge Foundation’s Apprenticeships Work campaign, they have published two policy reports related to apprenticeships and small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Agents of Change explores how to grow the number of apprenticeship opportunities offered by SMEs, by creating a brokerage service to link the organisations to potential apprentices and training providers.

The second report, Chaos to Coordination, examines how apprenticeships can be made more effective, especially for small businesses. It aims to address what Edge sees as ‘unnecessary complexity and lack of support’. The report is based on a survey undertaken by the recruitment and Employment Confederation for Edge.
